Fall 2022 Upcoming Releases

It’s been quite a while since Ink Smith Publishing has released more than two books a year. Due to COVID and other interruptions Ink Smith has been slowly getting back into the groove. Fall 2022 is starting to take shape and we are pleased to announce the upcoming publications of three of our current authors’ work. First up, is the relaunching of Polar Night and Polar Day by Julie Flanders. These relaunched, and beautifully designed covers are in preparation for the third book, Polar Curse, in the re-branded Polar Magic series.

Polar Curse by Julie Flanders

Julie Flanders, the author of The Ghosts of Aquinnah, Polar Night, and Polar Day, is releasing the next book in the Polar Magic series: Polar Curse. It started in Fairbanks, and it will end in Fairbanks. Detective Danny Fitzpatrick has dueled with vampires and witches, but something is haunting Fairbanks—and it isn’t just the recent disappearance of a hiker. Eerie voices, accidental deaths and arson keep dragging Danny back to Kennecott cemetery. Back to Annabelle Trescot’s grave. The only theory that makes any sense: a deadly ghost.

With bodies piling up, Danny is forced to seek out Aleksei Nechayev, the murderous vampire, for help. But history has a way of coming back to haunt us, even when the ghosts get what they want.

The Rise of the Azure Spire by J. Edward Hackett

J. Edward Hackett, author of the epic-fantasy novel, The Flight of the Ravenhawk, is back with the sequel to Prince Kals’ adventure. With King Darnashi under the control of necromancy wielded by Prime Magus Encheron, the Wizardlord’s must pledge their allegiance or face the costs of treason.

The Elves of Venda have thrown their support behind Prince Kal, but Kal might be more Allurian than they bargained for. When Kal’s dreams connect to the tortured soul of his brother, King Darnashi—the war takes a much deadlier turn. An army of the dead has risen and Encheron wields their commander.

While Venda and Alluria fight their war, Encheron is making deals with the Shadowland to ensure his own claim over Alluria, but when he promises the Heart of Creation in exchange for his power, he may have doomed them all.

The Witch and the Devourer of Souls by C. David Belt

C. David Belt, author of The Witch of White Lady Hollow, has rocketed us into the future with The Witch and the Devourer of Souls. We find ourselves following an adult, Tabitha Moonshadow, navigating another evil force, in the sequel.

A masked serial killer feeds off the terror of women, devouring their souls… and he’s set his sights on Tabitha.

Tabitha Moonshadow Kilmore is now a young wife and a new mother, as well as a starving university student. And only her husband, her beloved Josh, knows that she’s a witch. And only Tabitha knows that Josh is a warlock—her warlock. They can do nothing apart, but together, they are magnificent.

It’s 1982, and a masked serial killer stalks the streets of tranquil Provo, Utah, abducting and terrorizing women, consuming their fear, and devouring their souls. And the killer has targeted the ultimate prize–the witch, Tabitha.

Reluctantly, Tabitha uses her abilities to aid Provo Police Detective Daniel Folau, a man scarred without and within, to identify and stop the murderer. But can Tabitha and Josh trust Folau? Can they trust any man? After all, any male could be the Devourer of Souls.

ISP Book Publishing Awards VS. General Book Submissions

Starting August 1st, Ink Smith Publishing is starting our first annual Book Publishing Awards. These awards will focus on three genres and their sub genres.

Why should you enter into the Book Publishing Awards instead of waiting for general book submissions to reopen?

Our general submissions run for a short amount of time every year. At that time, authors with books in all genres are welcomed to submit their query. From open to close, we receive thousands of submissions in multiple genres. Which makes competition fierce. Out of our general submissions, we will sign contracts with about 4-6 authors.

With our genre specific book publishing awards, the entrants will not be competing against as many submissions.

The ISP 2015 Book Publishing Awards are meant to be a straightforward opportunity for dedicated and passionate authors with extraordinary work to get published.

You can post any questions you may have below.

More posts to come. Stay Tuned.

Enter the 2015 ISP Book Publishing Awards now to take advantage of this exciting opportunity to have your book considered for cash prizes, awards, exposure, and possible representation by a leading publishing company.

Please Vote For Ink Smith Publishing!

lolhorizontallogo8

What are you voting for? Our future.

Chase will be giving 20 businesses the opportunity they’ve need to grow, a grant.

Ink Smith Publishing and Native Ink Press are two small and  small independent yet traditional publishing companies. We support and dedicate our authors to grow both as individuals and in books sales. We stand for more than just the bottom line. Many of our authors also get experience working with us in the field, such as cover artists, formatting and more. We are more than just a publishing company; we are the future of what this industry should be.

Due to our recent growth, we are now able to provide editors for our authors to work with. Our editors focus on more than just the book. They work on teaching the author techniques for any future novels.

Most recently, we are now able to provide our authors with book covers that are more than just basic.

It is these small, but continual growths that the grant would help us with.

So please vote for us! We need less than 90 at this point. Your support would mean the world to us!

The Journey to Wondercon, The Final Update

I feel like there is no such thing as too prepared. I started packing Tuesday morning. Having done events before I have learned… boxes on wheels are not the answer when it comes to transporting goods. So this time I am going suitcases a try. So far, so good. Packing everything has been a game of extreme tetris. Not just the kind you play with the dishwasher, but this one has different delicate elements. The books went into two entirely separate suitcases. They weren’t any trouble, although if I had had 5 more books… they wouldn’t have fit.  It was the bag with the delicate material that was the headache.

We have paper, catalogs, glass, feather pens and other easily breakable(or bendable) goods to be transported to the convention center. I don’t want to show up with bent signs and broken feathers. That would definitely be bad for business!

I’ve updated our Square store. We have a few more dozen followers on twitter. Look for #inkwell this weekend! If you take a picture with us, or our booth or anything related to us, be sure to include the hash tag!

Tonight we set up. I feel like its a holiday weekend. I cannot wait for tomorrow!

Did I mention we are having an exclusive giveaway for the weekend? No purchase is necessary. Only one entry per person. Multientries will void your entry. Whats better than free books! Come by and sign up.

Now I can finally concentrate on what to wear!

This will be the last journey post for now, as the event starts tomorrow. Depending on how exhausted I am, I may or may not post a Day 1 recap. Be sure to stop by our booth! We are space 100 in the small press section. Take pictures, tag us on twitter and let us know what you think. Thank you for following my adventure. The stress is finally over and I am ready to enjoy.

We are also putting our ebooks at our official store 50% off! This will be available to anyone. So even if you aren’t attending this weekend, you can still take advantage of this great sale! We’ve also added the Amazon Payment option on our website, giving you more options to check out.

The Journey to Wondercon, Update #2

I’m more surprised that I haven’t lost my head at this point. I hit a point yesterday where I felt all the stress overwhelm me. Though, I am proud to say that I’ve made it through and am ready for what ever tomorrow brings.

There is still a big list of things that need to be done, but I see the light!

We haven’t done many big events quite yet. So there has been a lot of setup that I won’t ever have to do again! *Hopefully*

We created a very tall banner sign holder from PVC. Had an 8ft banner printed and set it all up in the entry way of my house. Why? Because the thing towers at least 10+ feet over my head! In my nervous excitement, I want to be over prepared for next weekend. We have set up now a demo of what our display will look like next weekend. It makes me feel a little better, knowing the display stands out and looks amazing.  I can be a creative perfectionist though and that will definitely delay completion of our table.

The books have been ordered and shipped. It was a big decision. I hope I made the best call on the numbers.

The book bags have been finished too.

I still don’t know what to expect! Anyone I ask keeps saying, “It depends on the crowd.” Some years they buy and other years they don’t. I don’t like those numbers. I prefer a yes or a no!

Advice? Thoughts? I will post pictures this weekend of my dilemma. To have the second book stand or not? That’s update #3’s main topic for discussion.
